Does This Sound Like You?

Adults with ADHD often struggle to stay focused on everyday tasks and can be easily distracted by sights, sounds, or their own thoughts. This can lead to being late for events, misplacing items frequently, and feeling frustrated. Students with ADHD face additional challenges at home, at school, and with their peers. Their intelligence doesn’t always align with their academic performance, which can result in frustration and even anger. At home, they may find it hard to follow household rules, causing tension within their families.

For people with ADHD, their brains simply work differently. It’s a neurological issue that affects their ability to control impulsivity, hyperactivity, focus, and emotional reactions. These behaviors aren’t intentional—they’re part of how their brains function. ADHD can look different for everyone, adding to the complexity of understanding and managing it.

Many people with ADHD develop their own ways of coping. This might include drinking a lot of caffeine to stay focused or turning to drugs or alcohol to deal with feelings of frustration, inadequacy, or depression.

ADHD is also often misdiagnosed or occurs alongside other conditions, making treatment more difficult. You may have experienced challenges like OCD, anxiety, depression, or anger management, which can complicate an already difficult situation. Our practice views ADHD as a superpower and not a disability. Partner with us to find out more.
